LasFest 2024
Mushrooms Edition
The patron of the seventh edition of the festival are mushrooms - fascinating creatures - not plants, but also not animals; revealing themselves on the surface, but also forming vast systems hidden in the ground; able to live in symbiosis with trees (feeding on their roots and in return providing them with water and mineral salts), but also manifesting a predatory nature (secreting toxins that paralyze the victim); desirable as an ingredient of the most sophisticated dishes, but also posing a deadly threat if mistaken; beautiful and repulsive; mammoth with an unusual aroma and repelling with an unbearable fetor; valued by some for their vitamin D and mineral content, by others used to open the doors of altered states of consciousness; used as useless ornaments, but also surprisingly useful (as a material resembling felt, knife sharpening tools, gaskets). Some mycelium tends to grow simultaneously in all directions, forming peculiar circles on the edges of which mushrooms grow. Such places were once attributed exceptional powers - they were supposed to be created by being struck by a fiery dragon's tail and elves were supposed to dance there on moonlit nights. The variety of forms, functions, and meanings that characterize Mushrooms became the inspiration for the program of the seventh edition of the International Theater Festival in the Forest. LasFest 2024 - Edition of Mushrooms will present a theater that eludes dogma and definitions, creating vast, invisible structures and revealing itself on the surface at selected moments; a theater that performs important social functions but also hides secrets, a theater that naturally combines opposites.
