LasFest 2026

The patron of the ninth edition of the International Theatre Festival in the Forest – LasFest 2026 – is the Tree Hollow: an inconspicuous yet fundamental place in the forest ecosystem. It emerges through wounds, cracks, the work of fungi, animals and time – and becomes a space of life: a shelter, a refuge, a point of orientation. Generations of birds are born inside it, bats spend the winter there, and wild bees store their treasures within it. A tree hollow is the archive of the forest, a capsule of safety, a micro-world with a stable climate whose balance determines the survival of entire species.

In our imagination, a tree hollow is more than a natural cavity. It is a private niche, a space of intimacy, a small treasury of memories, secrets and stories; a place we return to in order to catch our breath — or from which we set out again, stronger and more attentive.

LasFest 2026 – The Tree Hollow Edition – will present theatre that connects what is hidden with what is visible. Theatre that arises through processes invisible to the eye and then suddenly reveals itself with surprising force. Theatre that needs a safe space for development in order to confront what is difficult, repressed or overlooked. Here, the tree hollow becomes a metaphor for creative shelter: a place where ideas mature, emotions ferment, and where artists are free to take risks, experimentation and speak openly. The programme of the ninth edition draws inspiration from this duality — from the need for both protection and exposure, from the movement between inside and outside, silence and voice, concealment and revelation.
