Where the moss has eyes

Do you know that feeling when you are walking alone through a dense forest and suddenly have the impression that someone is watching you? You turn around — and there is only an old tree, a pine cone and a patch of moss.

This exhibition suggests that such a feeling may not be an illusion at all.

“Where the Moss Has Eyes” is a story about what hides in the forest undergrowth — right beneath our feet and just above our heads. Instead of classic puppets, you will encounter creatures that look as if they have stepped straight out of a forgotten woodland fairy tale. There are little spirits dressed in pine cones, melancholy beings with mushrooms for heads, and forest sages in dignified robes.

All these characters were created through a combination of natural materials, various media and imagination. But their most striking feature is their eyes — sometimes sharp and black, sometimes misty and thoughtful, and sometimes half-closed in quiet melancholy. Looking at them, one gets the feeling that each of these beings has its own story, its own mood and its own secret.

Come in, look around and let yourself be drawn into this forest world for a while. But remember — here, you are not the only observer.

Some of the puppets shown in the photographs will certainly appear in the exhibition, but new forest creatures are still being created in the studio ahead of July, so the display will continue to grow.
