Presentation of the workshop “Abstract Marionettes”
Magamura Creative Workshop / Milada i Szilárd Boráros (HU)
Final presentation of the “Abstract Marionettes” workshop
The presentation will be the outcome of a three-day puppet-making workshop led by the Hungarian-Czech artists of Magamura Creative Workshop. The work will be based on the concept of one of the group’s own theatre projects, treated as a shared serving as a space for play, experimentation and exploration.
Participants will build abstract puppet bodies onto pre-made marionette legs, using available materials, objects and their own intuitions. They will then explore the possibilities of animation, interaction with the puppet and the stage presence of the object, developing short stage pieces inspired by chosen themes.
The process will include searching for inspiration, designing, abstracting, puppet-making, animation, and dramaturgical and directorial refinement of materials. The final presentation will invite the audience to see the results of this work and to encounter the participants’ imagination.
The workshop will be led by the Hungarian-Czech artists of Magamura Creative Workshop: puppet and set designer Szilárd Boráros and dramaturg, director and drama pedagogue Milada Boráros.
