Maja Kleszcz - this year's winner of the Fryderyk Award, is described by the press and critics as one of the best Polish singers. Whether on stage or composing and acting, she always attracts with her charisma and unique voice. 14 recorded albums, more than 20 theatrical performances, television productions, hundreds of concerts and many awards are her best showcase.
She started her professional career at the age of 14 in Kapela ze Wsi Warszawa, winning awards (including BBC Radio, 3 Fryderyks), performing in over 30 countries around the world, wowing the foreign press from Tokyo to Los Angeles. After leaving the band in 2010, she begins to explore the world of sounds bordering on jazz and blues, fully developing her vocal abilities. Bogdan Loebl, an author known for his legendary collaboration with Tadeusz Nalepa, writes lyrics especially for her. She is equally adept at creative interpretations of the lyrics of Agnieszka Osiecka or the Ewa Demarczyk's monumental works. This activity, as well, has been recognized by audiences and critics. Numerous nominations for "Osiecka de Luxe", "Radio Retro" or "Odeon" record awards resulted in a Fryderyk for the album "B.L.UES" in 2023.
Maja Kleszcz is successfully engaged in composing theatrical and film music. Gifted as an actress, she also performs in plays (min. National Theater in Warsaw). Her compositions written for the play "Macbeth" receive a nomination for a Fryderyk in the illustrative music category. For her lifetime theatrical work in 2019, she received the A. Bardini Chapter Award and the Master's Diploma. Her voice will not leave you indifferent and proves that even today it is possible to have uncompromising faith in art and respect for the intelligence of the listener.
